Virtual row Lake Karapiro

Organisers of the 2010 World Rowing Championships have been on the international road with their unique ‘RowBox’ that has promoted New Zealand, Hamilton and the Karapiro Championships in a way no other rowing event or major sporting event in New Zealand has done before.

The RowBox has already toured some of the World's top regattas. It unfolds to reveal four rowing machines supplied by Concept 2 New Zealand that connected to a display of Lake Karapiro.

The RowBox National RoadShow will aim to generate interest throughout New Zealand as it has done so successfully on its World tour.

A National RowBox Tournament has also been created, and competitors from all ages will be encouraged to set a time on the virtual Lake Karapiro World Rowing Championship course. Participants in the national tournament will be divided up into the categories listed below and in some cases compete in staged finals with results updated on this website. The race is over 250 Meters.

The RowBox National Roadshow begins in January 2010, from where the RowBox will tour the length of New Zealand.

The first phase of the National Roadshow will see the RowBox visit holiday hotspots in the North Island region, bringing the event to holiday makers alongside other summer activities. The RowBox will then turn its attention to both Secondary School and national regattas, and the RowBox will be present at most major regattas featured on the Rowing New Zealand Calendar.
